Design Meaning of my Trans Leather Pride Flag:
I put a lot of personal thought and care into my design- It is visually similar to the original leather pride flag made in 1989 by Tony DeBlase. DeBlase said that the colours of the flag don't have specific meanings, but they can take on meanings should people wish to ascribe them meanings. It's for this reason I felt that all of the original colours should be represented on the flag. Navy was absent from some other designs I saw so it was added back in. To me, the navy colour represents inclusion and solidarity.
There are 8 black stripes to pay homage to Gilbert Baker's original 8 stripe pride flag. This also surrounds the blue, pink and white stripes of the trans flag, which adds symbolism of the whole LGBTQ+ community surrounding and uplifting trans people involved in kink.
This is a short post today but anyone is welcome to use my design in personal use.
